Don’t mix up sports specific skills (due to the Don’t mix up sports specific skills (due to the nature of the game) with quality speed skill (athleticism) training. However, if you still think that there is such a thing, then you are missing out on a big piece of the puzzle.

♦️Keep it SIMPLE
- This doesn’t mean it’s easy. It just means mastery of basics and laying a solid foundation.

♦️Keep it precise
- This means to train qualities that actually matter and stay on the training objective. This is especially NOT putting tonnes of cones, slalom and mini hurdles to create an array of obstacles to train agility and speed. Also certainly NOT about doing high volume repeat sprints with short intervals hoping to be fast; you are just getting fitter, possibly SLOWER and INJURY prone.

♦️Keep it REAL
- ‘Why’ and ‘How’ an athlete is Fast, Explosive and Powerful boils down to a few key qualities. Pattern of their footwork (foot strike), interacting with the body and hip. ‘Stiffness’ of the system at the right time of force application. You can do ALL THE POGOS and yet still move slow.

- Learn to use the hips well (not the legs) as this is THE BIGGEST differentiator between ‘novice’ and ‘good’ movers. In addition, enhance elastic qualities through proper and proven drills.

Ultimately, there really isn’t such thing as “SPORTS SPECIFIC” drills. Every sporting movement you see have the same unpinning qualities that makes an athlete fast and athletic.

Kids, teens, youth and adults…if you want to elevate your athleticism and sporting performance, reach out and we WILL help you elevate.

And share with people whom you care and need to hear this.

Sprinting is “dangerous”! This is so true if y Sprinting is “dangerous”! This is so true if you don’t have a proper mechanics. So do you avoid or deal with the problem?

Want to be fast and explosive, yet run into problems (especially hamstrings) when doing sprints (>95% effort). It usually boils down to poor sprinting mechanics.

With context, every foot strike is a collision with the ground which produces tremendous loading (up to 4-5x body weight) within <0.2s. All these forces are managed by the entire body. However, with poor mechanics, the hamstrings (typically) takes most of the load, thus burst the pipe!

Also, poor mechanics usually lead to slower top speed simply due to physics.

In short, it’s either you run “slow” all the time which reduces your training effectiveness or subconsciously create a habit of running slow to avoid a past injury. So which one are you?

If you want to have the best bang of your buck and elevate your speed and explosiveness, START IMPROVING YOUR MECHANICS!

Taking the “fishes” out of the waters during t Taking the “fishes” out of the waters during their off season to prime their neural and fascia system!

While their sport doesn’t require them to sprint and perform in land, but we believe that being coordinated and being able to express forces well on land has huge carry over effect!

If we do we do strength training and test generic qualities such as force and power output through Isometric Mid Thigh Pull (IMPT) and Counter Movement Jumps (CMJ) across most types of athletes, why not sprint? Being able to be powerful and coordinated on land holds much values and shows the physical readiness!

We don’t need our sports athletes to be the best sprinters, but we adopt methodologies used by sprinters for many of our athletes (martial arts, tennis, basketball, football and many more) and reap the results!

Food for thought!

Time and time again, basics trumps! While this vi Time and time again, basics trumps!

While this video explains its importance for kids, it also applies to adults! In fact, with growth, an athlete is able to produce more forces through the body and if it ain’t correctly, it will pose problems earlier than expected.

As such we have 3 age groups offered at MaxForm:

- Kids (Age 8-11)
- Youth (Age 12-16)
- Adults (>Age 16)

These classes aims to reinforce basics of sprinting, change of direction, acceleration and deceleration which are all underpinned by similar fundamentals.

This is how he did it.

“Don’t count the reps you do, make the reps you do count. Be Intentional.”

As cliche as it sounds, but this is so true when it comes to MaxForm’s coaching philosophy. The way we get our athletes to EXECUTE every movement with PRECISION is our differentiating factor. All art and science, no mimicry!

Congratulations to @limyaoxiang and his team of coaches (strength - @_yaops_ and swim - @hoverflysg) on this remarkable achievement!

Our Singapore Otters did what they set out to do a Our Singapore Otters did what they set out to do at the start of the year…which is to better their ranking from the previous Asian Canoe Polo Championship in 2023.

Surely they did it in style through their hard work and improved their ranking for the 19th edition of Asian Canoe Polo Championship 2025.

It was a close fight for third and we know it’s going to get even better in the next edition 💪
